In my latest YouTube video, I compare the Kentfaith K&F Concept GD3W geared head to the Sunwayfoto GH-PRO II geared head. I’ve been using the Sunwayfoto GH-PRO II for a year now, and while I was initially impressed with its performance, that was short lived.
I recently had the opportunity to try out the Kentfaith K&F Concept GD3W, and wanted to share my thoughts.
Build quality
On the face of it, Both the Kentfaith K&F Concept GD3W and the Sunwayfoto GH-PRO II are well-built heads, but the Kentfaith head feels more solid. This was proven after just 2 weeks of use of the Sunwayfoto, where it developed a minor but annoying wobble.
Features
The Kentfaith K&F GD3W has a few more features than the Sunwayfoto GH-PRO II too. First, the Kentfaith head has three geared axis, while the Sunwayfoto head only has two geared axis. This means that the Kentfaith head gives you more precise control over your camera movements.
Second, the Kentfaith head supports up to 6kgs of camera gear while the Sunwayfoto supports up to 4kgs.
Performance
Both the Kentfaith K&F Concept GD3W and the Sunwayfoto GH-PRO II perform very well put the factory. However, I found that the Kentfaith head is a little bit smoother and more precise. This is likely due to the fact that the Kentfaith head has three geared axes.
Value for money
The Kentfaith K&F Concept GD3W is a better value for money than the Sunwayfoto GH-PRO II. At £186 (at time of writing) for the Kentfaith K&F and £210 for the Sunwayfoto. While the Kentfaith head is cheaper, and it has more features and better build quality.
Conclusion
Overall, the Kentfaith K&F Concept GD3W is the better geared head. It’s better built, has more features, and is cheaper. It’s possible I may have received a bad copy of the Sunwayfoto, as many others use it without issue, but I honestly don’t think it is quite as good as the Kentfaith K&F concept head.
Which head should you buy?
If you’re looking for the best possible budget friendly geared head, I recommend the Kentfaith K&F Concept GD3W. It’s well-built, has all the features you need and it’s very affordable (especially in the Black Friday deal that Kentfaith currently have.. see below)
